Types of Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) combines traditional cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness principles. By cultivating present-moment awareness, MBCT helps you observe, acknowledge, and shift negative thought patterns. Through mindfulness practices, you learn to observe your thoughts and emotions without judgement, cultivating present-moment awareness. This heightened awareness enables you to disengage from automatic, negative thought patterns, fostering a more positive relationship with your thoughts, emotions, and body sensations. MBCT empowers you to develop coping strategies for managing stress, depression, anxiety, chronic pain and promoting overall mental well-being.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of therapy that teaches you how to manage your emotions, improve your relationships, and deal with stress. It combines techniques from cognitive-behavioural therapy and mindfulness to help you balance accepting yourself as you are while also making positive changes. DBT is especially helpful for those facing strong emotions, relationship issues, and stress management.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy approach that helps you process distressing memories and overcome trauma-related symptoms. It involves a structured eight-phase protocol, during which you recall traumatic experiences while simultaneously focusing on external stimuli, such as eye movements or tapping. This dual attention and bilateral stimulation facilitates the reprocessing of memories, allowing you to integrate them in a more adaptive way. EMDR has been shown to be effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as a range of other mental health conditions.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy focuses on identifying and building on your strengths and resources. Rather than solely dwelling on problems, this approach encourages forward-focused, goal-oriented conversations. By exploring solutions collaboratively, we work towards creating positive change and achieving your desired outcomes.
